(More customer reviews)I bought this watch primarily for its attractiveness, unique look, and clear moon phase indicator.I'm not disappointed at all.You should know that the large red hand is the tide indicator (not a seconds hand) and that the tide functions only work for Atlantic tides.And no, like most formal watches, there is no illumination.The watch feels nice and solid, is well balanced on my wrist, and keeps excellent time.For those looking for a practical, less expensive fishing watch I'd recommend the Casio Men's Pathfinder Fishing Watch.

It features a precise 9-jewel Swiss quartz movement that's accurate to 1/10 of a second per day, a perpetual tide change function for both home or away once location is set at home and destination port, and a moon phase indicator subdial. It also offers a unidirectional rotating bezel that enables you to keep track of a second tide location. The white dial is accented by a subtle wave pattern and it features a full Arabic numeral display, small minute indexes, blue skeleton hands (with seconds hand), and a date window at 6 o'clock. It's completed by a five-link stainless steel bracelet band with diver's buckle and safety clasp. (More customer reviews)I bought this watch as a gift for my Dad who is a big hiker and prefers an analog watch.It seems to be a nice quality -- good finish and sturdy look, nicely sewn leather strap -- though the compass that swings out from the side of the watch is really quite small and therefore, of limited use.I mean, it will give you general bearing but not much more.It's also somewhat bulky -- but no worse than the homely plastic digitals at the local outdoor store chain.Otherwise pleased and the Amazon vendor had a great price -- about 35% off of retail.

Overall, a good buy for the money.
