(More customer reviews)I have REALLY small wrists and hands, but I had convinced myself that I needed a sort of chunky masculine watch. After trying on a number of others (ToyWatch, Seiko, Kors, and god knows who else), I found this watch for 90% (!!!) off during some Amazon.com Invicta special.I fell in love with it the moment it arrived.The gold is shiny and warm, and not too yellow, and the mother-of-pearl face is really elegant and gives it something special.Also, it's chunky without being bulky, and remarkably comfortable.
I've gotten more compliments than I can even count, especially on the ring of tiny diamonds framing the face - it's a really subtle, feminine detail to this watch! My only gripe is that after only about a month of wear, the gold is wearing off just a *teeny* bit on the clasp, but since it's on the underside I'm not really worried.Besides, I don't really like when a watch looks too shiny and new.
I am definitely going to get a TON of wear out of this in the years to come, and have referred everyone who's looking for a new watch to Amazon!

(More customer reviews)Upon receiving the watch (very fast shipping from Amazon), I was impressed by its size and heft. It is quite a bit bigger than my other watch, a TAG Heuer professional. It looks better in person than in the pictures. The dial is actually silver colored, not white as on the picture on the Amazon page. With the wavery pattern, it has a rich, gorgeous appearance. The small hands in the subdials have red tips, wich look good against the black background.The watch is also quite heavy, giving a quality feel to it.

I have been wearing it every day for a week and it does not feel heavy on the wrist. It keeps very accurate time. Some people have complained about the clasp on the bracelet. I do not see the problem. It closes securely and easily. It is reversed, however, compared to the Tag watch. The bezel moves smoothly but does not have the same feel as a more expensive watch. The bracelet is good but again it is more substantial on the TAG. I would have wished that the crown be a srew-down type, thus I am not sure about the 100m water resistance. The lume on the hands is decent but there is too little of it applied (the minute hand is very narrow), after a few minutes in the dark it fades away quite quickly. The marks around the dial are not luminescent either, only the hands. The stainless steel is highly polished, possibly making it more prone to scratching.

Overall I am very pleased with it, it could pass for a much more expensive watch to a non expert. It would be hard to beat $99 for a watch with a Swiss movement (even if it is quartz). Only time will tell if it will be reliable in the long run.I have another Invicta watch and it runs without problems. At this price it is a very good deal and one can overlook the minor shortcomings in craftsmanship and focus on the overall quality of this piece.

When I got it, the clasp over the crown would come loose every now and then, but then after a while stay closed, not great but I could live with it. Then after pulling the crown out to and changing the date, the crown would not push back in so that I could screw it closed. I have the extended warranty. It says to just send your watch in, but I wanted to call and get an RMA number so that I could somehow track that I had sent it in.. smart I thought. Well every time I called (3 times in a month) I would get a human receptionist I am assuming, and they would transfer me to there repair service. Every time I would get a recording to leave my information and they would call me back. They NEVER DID. Do not buy this watch unless you are willing to spend money on it and if something happens, have a paperweight.

Screw Down Crowns: Many Invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our Diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force.
Automatic Watches

Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).
