About Movado
Movado, one of the most celebrated watch brands in the world, traces its origins to the small village of La Chaux-de-faunds, Switzerland where, in 1881, a young watchmaker named Achille Ditesheim hired six assistants and opened a small workshop. He called his company Movado, a word which means, roughly, "always in motion."The company grew and prospered, evolving from a small pocketwatch manufacturer into a leading innovator and designer of precision wristwatches.Throughout its history, Movado has maintained its place at the pinnacle of innovation and excellence in design, craftsmanship and technology. Movado watches are crafted by highly-skilled watchmakers to meet the exacting standards of Swiss time technology. They are accurate to within seconds a year. All Movado watches are sealed and protected against water, moisture and dust, and individually tested to meet strict international standards of quality.A long-time dedicated supporter of the arts, Movado has, itself, been the recipient of over 200 international awards.Movado watches can now be found in the permanent collections of over 20 museums worldwide.

Triumph Motorcycles Men's 3021-02 Analog-Digital Black Leather Watch

This watch is large, heavy and very handsome! My husband doesn't wear watches, but always admired the very expensive ones the formula 1 car drivers had. We couldn't spend thousands on a watch, but when this 700 dollar watch came up on sale for 70 dollars - I couldn't resist getting it for him to celebrate his new job. He wears it everyday and is so proud of it. It looks like a million bucks. the digital portion is a bit hard to read (very dim) but the rest is A+.

Seiko Men's SNP009 Arctura Kinetic Perpetual Watch Review

Seiko Men's SNP009 Arctura Kinetic Perpetual Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I decided to purchase this model after my last Seiko which was a battery operated perpetual: I found out the cost to replace the battery and have the perpetual calendar "re-calibrated" was 70$ after 5 years.

I am hoping this Arctura kinetic perpetual technology will be maintenance free for the next 10-14 years at least. The watch is slightly bigger than I expected and certainly has a solid feel (aka can feel heavy at times...may be the stainless steel bracelet).

However, its looks highly elegant, and most importantly, the technology inside is unbeatable.

Product Description:

Kinetic: A powerhouse in technological innovation

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

Product Description:
The Invicta Men's Signature Collection Admiral Automatic Watch showcases a uniquely expressive face and intricate gear windows that make this timepiece as handsome as it is functional. Constructed with a black ion-plated stainless steel case, the Admiral includes a stationary black ion-plated stainless steel bezel and a black leather wristband that's secured with an adjustable buckle clasp. A strong mineral window shields the textured black face, which features silver-tone hour markers and Arabic numerals. The dial also includes slim minute indexes, handsome gear windows, and silver-tone watch hands. Featuring Japanese-automatic movement, the watch is water resistant to 330 feet (100 m).
Automatic Watches

Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).

Sector Men's 650 Series watch #2653965095 Review

Sector Men's 650 Series watch #2653965095
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this Sector 650-series watch through one of those "one-day" online deals. I didn't need another watch, but this was a deal that seemed too good to resist. Here's what to like:this is a very stylish watch with a royal blue dial and white hands. The case and bracelet are very well designed; the watch has heft but is not objectionably heavy. It has a secure clasp mechanism requiring two buttons to be pushed in simultaneously before it will release, so the likelihood that it will simply slide off your wrist is very small. The crystal is sapphire, which means that it will shrug off encounters that would leave mineral glass crystals deeply scratched. The movement is an ETA Swiss Quartz 251.272 movement, which is very, very accurate--I haven't noticed any deviation from the atomic clock in a one-week timeframe. The watch is also rated as 200 meters water resistant, which means that you could swim with this watch and not have to worry about it springing a leak--so long as you didn't push the chronograph buttons underwater! The bezel is uni-directional, and has numbers in relief rather than being painted on.The screw-down crown makes you feel a lot more confident about the stated 200-meter water resistance. What's not to like so much:the chronograph hands are small and hard to see, but they don't "eat up" the number markers on the dial. The date change feature is a bit unconventional:you unscrew the crown and pull it to the second position, which allows you to move only the hour hand. You then advance the hour hand around the dial to arrive at the desired number in the date window. This feature also makes it easy to change back and forth between time zones.I'd prefer a quicker date-setting feature, but it's a minor inconvenience, and the ability to change times easily from different time zones more than offsets this problem. The bracelet could use some half-links to make getting a custom fit easier, but it has some adjustment holes in the clasp, which allow you to "fine-tune" the band's circumference.Overall, this is a great watch--and one of the handsomest watches I own. It's masculine without being overly heavy or bulky, and it is extremely well made. The dial is simply beautiful. The band and case are very neatly integrated, and the entire watch has an air of quality about it.Sector is part of the Italian company, Morellato, and is making inroads into the US.The company has a real winner in such watches as this one. This watch would look great with a wool suit or even a wet suit.I've seen few watches that "grab" me the way this one has!

Seiko Men's SNL012 Arctura Kinetic Watch Review

Seiko Men's SNL012 Arctura Kinetic Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There is no question that this watch is strikingly beautiful. For a watch that does not come from Switzerland you will find no better in the Looks Department. The picture here does not really do the watch justice; I saw this watch (the #SNL012 version, stainless with gold trim and white face) at a jewelers and couldn't quite get it out of my mind.I've been wearing mine for about three weeks now and have received more feedback on it than I've ever had on one of my Omegas or my Rolex GMT."Mod," and "Futuristic," are two descriptions I've heard which I think are true and fair. The watch is super heavy, but is not so bulky as to be a nuisance. The movement is made in Japan, which is obviously good; the bracelet is made in China, but I see no conspicuous compromise in quality. This watch has a see-through back, which is nice even though there are no glittering jewels back there. The front crystal is scratch-resistant sapphire, a signifacnt feature.Overall, the watch has awesome curb appeal and you'll probably be extremely pleased.

Next point: at the time of this review Amazon has the absolute best price on this watch.I went down to the L.A. Jewelry District, where watches are sold at bargain-basement prices, and this watch there was over $50 more out-the-door.And I'd rather buy from a reputable entity like Amazon than one of these jewelry vendors in the Jewelry District. Other brick-and-mortar retailers are not at present anywhere close to Amazon in terms of price, not to mention providing the free shipping.

Okay, the caveats: The watchunfortunately is of limited functionality. The form really precedes the function. The little subdial at the six-o'clock position: that is actually the watch face you'll be looking at to tell the time throughout the day.It is a small watch face to be sure, and if you are trying to glimpse the time in a subtle or fast fashion, good luck. Hopefully you won't be driving your car at the time. The little hands and the little watch face need more concentration to see and comprehend than a full-sized watch. That gets annoying quickly. I guess it does provide an excuse to gaze at the beautiful watch.

The next caveat: the so-called stop-watch function is very precarious. The minute register--which stops at 45 minutes--is so small that it is all but impossible to tell which minute the hand is pointing at: it would be very easy to misinterpret it by a minute, maybe even two.If you ever used this watch to time something important you would be setting yourself up to be sued for malpractice. You really would need a magnifying glass to see it close enough to be certain which minute-marker the hand is pointing at.But, again, that semi-circular shiny chrome subdial with the blued metal hand sure looks cool! But looks are as far as it really goes here, I'm afraid.

The final caveat: I was told by two different jewelers that these Seiko Kinetics have the "capacitors" go out on them after five to seven years. The capacitor is what holds the electric charge to run the watch. Can it be replaced?Yes, for a significant fee, unless the material inside the capacitor has burst out and ruined the other componenets in the watch. Then you have a complete throw-away. Apparently, and sadly, this happens with some frequency. Both jewelers emphatically advised me against a Seiko Kinetic for this reason. If this ruination of the watch occurs to me, I will be quite upset and letters will be promptly fired off to Tokyo (or wherever Seiko headquarters is located)! But the watch is so good looking I had to gamble and get it.

So far, I have no real regrets, but I wish they could have fine-tuned the concept a little more. At one-fifth the price of an entry-level Swiss watch you may find yourself content even if you only have the watch for five years or so.I want and expect more years (20 sounds reasonable), but I will have to wait 19 years and 11 months to tell you if that milestone is achieved!

Product Description:
The Seiko SNL012 stainless steel men's watch blends artistic style, powerful timekeeping features, and the latest in watch technology. This kinetic-powered timepiece contains its own internal electrical generator--operated by natural wrist movements--making it independent of conventional storage batteries. The step-motion second hand will move in 2-second intervals when energy is reaching a level of less than 3 hours. It also features three chronograph subdials (stopwatch, minute, and 1/5 second), with a stopwatch feature that measures up to 45 minutes in 1/5 second increments.
This lovely silver stainless steel watch is highlighted by a polished gold-tone bezel that frames the white dial background. The case is fully integrated into the silver stainless steel bracelet band, which has brushed pieces bordering a highly polished center column of links. It's joined by a double-locking, push-button clasp. The skeleton caseback lets you see the watch's inner mechanics. Other features include Japanese quartz movement, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet).
