Good looking, great time keeper, no strap adjustment needed. At first I thought it was defective due to lack of luminescence.I have since discovered that if exposed to bright light it glows just fine.
raise this to four stars.

So I've owned this watch for over a year now and while it looks sharp, it is somewhat of a bog watch and I have had to send it back to Victronix twice now to replace the battery. That's just crappy.Anyways, the features are tough to use as well. This isn't part of my review but the last time I got the watch back from servicing they forgot to screw the back into the watch so now I have to send it in to them for the 3rd time.I'm tired of it.

REACTOR Men's 72002 Meltdown Silver Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch Review

REACTOR Men's 72002 Meltdown Silver Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Amazing watch.I am a watch collector and usually change watches everyday.Sometimes, two or three times a day.I have had this watch for a week and can't seem to take it off.I find myself staring transfixed by the simple dial and bright, blue lined, super luminous hands and hour markers.
The best:White or silver toned dials on watches are nice but usually they are combined with hands that are silver edged making it very difficult to see the time. This has a beautiful blue edge to the hands (that depending on the light may look black)that contrast just right against the silver dial making it super easy to tell time in any and all conditions.

The luminescence is just incredibly bright and last all night.

The bezel is smooth, with no play at all and very easy to grasp. It has a highly visible, luminescent marker at the 12 o'clock position.

The clean, simple dial is simplicity at it's best. The day and date are easy to read and framed by the blue steel that frames hour markers and hands.

The case is not super heavy but does have heft to it and let's you know that you are wearing a stainless steel watch.

The bracelet is thick, strong and has no jingle or clinking sound to it when you move around.Very well made and also one of the easiest watches to size I have ever dealt with. You can make it fit perfectly with the micro adjustments.

This watch wears as is it had been made specifically for my wrist. At 42mm it sits perfectly on my 7.25 inch wrist with not a bit of tightness or wobble.

The second hand falls right on the hour markers. Many quartz watches don't do that and it may not be important to some but I like it when the second hand hits the markers instead of in between them.

The worst:There are no minute markers so if you like seeing what time it is to the minute, you are out of luck unless the hand is right on the hour markers.I would have liked minute markers between the hour markers. It would have added a little extra to the dial and still kept it simple and clean.

When all is said and done, this watch is one of my favorites. You can wear it from dressy to sporty occasions without being much of a fashion misfit and that helps too.

REACTOR Men's 60501 MC2 Black Coral Dial Black Nitride Plated Watch Review

REACTOR Men's 60501 MC2 Black Coral Dial Black Nitride Plated Watch
Average Reviews:

This watch is big and dark. Yes, it's black, but so large in the band and face it looks less dressy and more ominous. The flouresant numerals do NOT stay lit for any longer than a few minutes.
The dial is kinda small compared to the overall dial/band.
I have no doubt it is a fine watch quality and movement wize, if you want to look like Special Forces, fine.. if not, look at the ones with the shiny stainless bracelet. Thats much better looking.

Reactor Never Dark™ - the World's Most Advanced Watch Lighting System
Throughout the history of the wristwatch, designers have struggled with the best method to illuminate the watch face for easy viewing at night. Originally, radium paint was applied, but the radioactive side effects to the workers quickly made this unacceptable. Various phosphourescent compounds have been tried, but most remain visible only a short while in the dark. Electroluminescence was introduced in the '80s, but has the disadvantages of reducing battery life and requiring a button press to activate. Tritium-filled luminous tubes entered the market in the '90s, and while their multi-year illumination makes them a good choice, their relatively low brightness can be difficult to see in partially lit conditions, or immediately after moving from a brightly lit to a dark environment.

Starting in 2003, Reactor developed a proprietary method of applying a unique Swiss material called Superluminova that makes our watches the brightest and longest-lasting phosphourescent watches in the world (as verified by independent testing). However, while Superluminova is at least five times brighter than tritium after being charged in the light, that brightness fades to below that of tritium over several hours. As part of our quest to build the best watch possible, we saw a better solution.

Never Dark™ is the first technology to combine the intense brightness of Superluminova with the multi-year longevity of tritium, providing optimal illumination under all lighting conditions. Because it can take up to 30 minutes for the human eye to fully adjust to the dark, Superluminova's intense peak brightness makes a Never Dark™ watch easily visible during that initial period. This can be even more important when moving repeatedly from light to dark (such as when going below deck on a boat during the day), as the Superluminova will continually recharge and the eye will not have time to adjust. In situations where the watch will remain in the dark for many hours, the tritium will remain visible for years, even if the watch is never returned to the light.

This graph illustrates the performance of each illumination source over time. While tritium remains at a constant level, Superluminova gets extremely bright then fades over several hours, but recharges very quickly when re-exposed to light. Never Dark™ is the only watch illumination to "self-adjust" to conditions, with a response curve similar to that of the human eye. At its peak, the glow of Superluminova is easily visible, even at dusk or in difficult, partially lit conditions. With a full charge, it produces five to ten times the light output of tritium. But, as that brightness fades, the tritium will continue to glow for at least ten years.

Tritium is radioactive. Should You be worried?

Unlike radioactive isotopes that have been used on watches in the past, tritium poses no health risk to the wearer or to the workers who assemble the watches. Tritium's radioactive decay produces only weak beta particles that are contained completely within the sealed glass tubes. Even if exposed, the beta particles do not posess enough energy to penetrate the outer layer of human skin.

REACTOR Men's 53501 Gamma Black Dial Two-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch Review

REACTOR Men's 53501 Gamma Black Dial Two-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first heard of Reactor in Saltwater Sportsman magazine. One of their target markets is sport fishermen. Anyway, it's a great looking watch as are many of the watches in their line. It's well made using quality materials and the finish is top notch. The latch and lock on the bracelet are top notch and not found on watches at this price point. The case is quite heavy and made from stainless steel. Sure it's not a "fine" Swiss watch but it has the look and feel at a fraction of the price. I've had this model for about 6 months and the Japanese movement keeps perfect time. I did somehow scratch the crystal pretty bad and I'm sending it back for repair. I'll post my experience with the service as soon as it comes back. All in all, at $400.00 it's well worth the money and I'd be confident to recommend this brand to anyone.

Update 6/26/09

Sent the watch back for repair. Filled out the form and enclosed $20.00. Received an email from Reactor when the watch arrived stating that they had in fact received the watch and were replacing the crystal. They did the repair and I had it back 2 days later. Great turnaround and awesome customer service.
