I have chosen the quartz, because I simply do not like automatic watches (I have one and I always forget to put it in the auto winder).This watch has supplanted my Tag as my every day watch.

The Baume & Mercier Men's Hampton Swiss Quartz Watch features a polished stainless steel design and clean white dial that complements most casual daytime and business attire. Hampton is Baume & Mercier's icon watch and refers to the Hampton's, situated on Long Island, off New York, where the way of life exudes harmony and serenity. Halfway between tradition and modernity, its slightly curved case hugs the wrist perfectly. Hamptons retro-contemporary design makes it a great classic of our time. Constructed with a stainless steel case, the watch includes a polished rectangular stainless steel bezel, and a black leather wristband secured with a deployment clasp. A scratch-resistant-sapphire window shields the white dial, which features silver-stud hour markers with Arabic numerals at three and nine o'clock. The dial also includes slim black minute markers, silver-tone watch hands, and a date calendar at six o'clock. Featuring Swiss-quartz movement, the timepiece is water resistant to 99 feet (30 M).

(More customer reviews)I have owned several chronographs, and this is by far the most versatile and beautiful. It's subtle style lends a touch of class to it's rugged durability. It is rated for swimming down to 50 ft, so I can keep it on during impromptu swims, fishing and camping trip, etc - but it is also an appropriate watch to wear to work, out on the town, etc...
Downsides are minimal: the crown is difficult to manage and takes a deft hand to screw back in - and of course the rubber strap will not satisfy the leather/ croc/ gold bracelet crowd out there...but it is a sportsman's watch, and the rubber strap works well on it.

(More customer reviews)I have to say, I love this very nice timepiece. The watch is beautiful and looks better in person than in pictures. However, I bought this as a gift. Unfortunately, the watch on the smallest sizing hole was still too big for the receiver of this gift. I went to a Movado store and they said they cannot do anything to alter the silicon band. I called and visited several watch stores and repair shops, all with the same answers. I finally called Movado, and they were also unable to offer a solution. You possibly could replace the band with a metal version that comes in their rounder version of this watch. However, with the square face and look of this watch, it just wouldn't look right (and not to mention they weren't even sure it would fit!).

So in short, it's a beautiful watch - I ended up keeping it for myself rather than returning it (I'm not too sad about that) but of course had to find a new gift for my friend. I would recommend this lovely watch, with the warning that it will be too large for thin wrists even on the tightest sizing hole.
