(More customer reviews)I love watches, and I currently have 2 Torgoen (pronounced tor-goin) watches.These watches are EXTREMELY well made and always get attention.They are heavy and big.All stainless steel.I own the T5 and T7 (sapphire crystal) and LOVE them.I use the T5 as an everyday beater and the T7 (very big watch) as more of an occasional piece.The T5's GMT hand is fixed relative to the 12 hour hand - but the GMT hand can be changed to display a different time zone in the 24 hour format.I'll add another one of the fine watches in the near future.

A great choice for globetrotters and pilots flying from one continent to another, the Torgoen T5 Zulu Time Watch enables you to easily track two time zones simultaneously. This handsomely designed men's T5 (model T50101B01) offers a precise Swiss quartz timing movement and has an additional hand to denote a second time zone, which completes a full circle once ever 24 hours. It features a high-grade stainless steel watch case (with off-center crown at the bottom) and quintuple link bracelet band, and the case measures 39mm (1.53 inches) wide and 14mm (0.55 inches) thick. For easy reference in communications, each of the world's 24 time zones has been assigned a letter of the alphabet (less the letter "I" and "O"). The "clock" at Greenwich, England is used as the standard clock for international reference of time in communications, military, maritime and other activities that cross time zones. The letter designation for this clock isZ, pronounced ZULU in the phonetic alphabet.
To set the time, pull out the crown 2 steps and turn. To set a different time zone, pull out the crown out only one step and then turn to one direction to change the date and the other to set the 24-hour hand to indicate a different time zone of your choice. For example, if you are in New York City, at noon, and wish to track the time in Rock Springs, Wyoming (2 hours behind New York), turn the crown until the red 24-hour hand points to 10:00 on the 24-hour scale (5:00 on the 12-hour scale).

(More customer reviews)This is a great watch if you want something big and solid and it isa still better choice if you need or want the combination of slide rule for calculations plusthe ability to have at a glance, the time in two timezones.The dial is marked for both standard and 24 hour time and you can set it for any two time zones that are handy for you, even if it IS named for GMT "zulu" time.

It just gets better if you value the ability to use the slide rule.Itoffers a host of ways to quickly calculate the old fashioned way, things involvingtime and distance andunit conversions for speed and fuel or currency exchange rates, and you can jut plain multiply and divide.

This thing is big and thick and heavy.It looks and feels like a real man watch and it seems to be pretty much bulletproof. Mine takes a real beating because I do a lot of carpentry and so far it is running fine even if it is a little bit nicked and scratched up.

If you want a glow in the dark watch that glows bright enough to really seefor hours on end, standing watch in the middle of no where, or for working security outside on the night shift without a flashlight or other light source, you need something with tritium in the phosphor on the hands and dial.Whatever is in the Torgoen is probably a lot saferfor your health, but they only hold a strong glow for a short while in the dark. It is not long before they are too weak to read easily, this is only a small annoyance for guys that normally live/work indoors and in daylight, but, it goes out too soon to go to war with.

That said, the T-6 is reallymacho looking, and if any he-man watch can actually get you laid this one should do it, ...provided the chick is not some Seal vet returning from night patrols in Iraq, who knows the real glow-in-the-dark deal when she sees it.

This Torgoen watch can be used as a regular circular slide rule or a flight computer. It uses the calculation abilities of a slide rule to calculate time, speed and distance, and fuel consumption, as well as useful conversions such as statute miles to nautical miles, metric units to English units, or US Dollars to British Pounds. Easy to use after just a little practice, you'll be able to perform some calculations more quickly than with a hand-held calculator.
As an example, suppose the conversion rate for the Swiss Franc is SFR 1.60 to $1.00. Rotate the outer scale to match 16 over 10, the outer scale becomes Swiss Francs and the middle scale becomes US dollars. You can leave the scales like that until the exchange rate changes. If you want to convert SFR 4.00 to dollars you look at the number in the middle scale opposite the 40 on the outer scale. The number is 25. You can therefore deduce that SFR4.00 are $2.50 (see example image at right).

(More customer reviews)I occasionally travel across time zones and am always looking for cool "GMT" style watches - ones with at least 2 time zones.When I saw this watch with 3, count them 3 time zones, I jumped all over it.

Mine has a rubber strap. That's important to me because when I travel, I wear the same watch every day - rubber doesn't absorb perspiration like leather and I find it more comfortable that a steel bracelet.The size may be too big for some but for my medium to large frame, this watch looks and feels just fine. So far, it's been reliable and it keeps good time.

Setting the main time zone is easy, the dials to reset the 2 secondary time zones are small and on the left side so they are a little more difficult to set.Visibility is excellent - good contrast between hands and dial plus the hands and numbers glow in the dark.

I looked at the whole line - some very interesting watches in there. Torgoen looks like a winner.So why 4 stars? I would have liked an automatic rather than a battery movement.
