(More customer reviews)This watch is beautiful, even down to the special steel used to make it (316l or something).The band is amazing, jewelery grade with a hexagonal pattern repeated through the links to the hidden clasp on the reverse.
The watch is substantial and heavy, but not over-sized.Quite unlike anything you have seen from Seiko before, the links are solid Stainless and polished to a mirror-like finish.
The pusher buttons don't click like some watches, but respond with a silky smooth action and the chrono handles split times in addition to standard start and stop functions.The Second hand on the Chrono is easy to see as it has a red tip.I would have preferred a different finish on the minute and hour hands to lift them out of the slight busy-ness of the dial, so sometimes you have to work a little to distinguish what hand is where, but that's my only negative comment.
The solid stainless case is waterproof to 100 meters and has Alessi engraved in the back and on the inside of the butterfly clasp.There is no country of origin marked anywhere on the watch (perhaps inside but breaking the seal to check is beyond the scope of this review).
A bit on Alessi.It's an Italian design house where various designers are invited in to create a range or a series of pieces.Brilliant designs very sought after throughout Europe.I used to buy an Alessi piece in theduty-free every time I would fly out of Milan back to my home in London (rather like collecting art but easier to carry).
My tip would be to get one of the quartz chronos for another $29 and add in one of the automatics as well (yes wind up)the shipping stays the same $7.50.Famous Brand Watches shipped fast!
